Enhancing operational integrity by contributing to a well-trained and competent workforce

For 25 years, IADC’s accreditation programs have helped guide companies in their efforts to ensure quality and consistency of training content and adherence to relevant industry standards.

Accredited providers are held to high quality standards to help ensure that drilling industry personnel are properly prepared to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.

IADC members share the belief that well control is the most critical area for safe and successful operations. Now comprising both drilling operations and well servicing courses, WellSharp offers a set of comprehensive training standards for the international drilling industry. The WellSharp curriculum and assessment content has been developed by the industry for the industry.

WellCAP now offers curriculum guidelines only for the Introductory Well Servicing course. Training providers accredited to offer that course must meet criteria for training materials, facilities, instructor qualifications, test administration, and course management. This Introductory course is currently being developed for transition to WellSharp.

Designed to assure that in-house competence programs meet accepted practices for developing and ensuring the skills of personnel. Consistent program oversight and quality control must be maintained.

IADC’s Accreditation Department has been awarded ISO 9001:2015 recertification. The ISO 9001 family addresses various aspects of quality management and contains some of ISO’s best-known standards, which provide guidance and tools for companies and organizations that want to ensure that their products and services consistently meet customer’s requirements. ISO 9001:2015 sets out the criteria for a quality management system and is the only standard in the family that can be certified to. This standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement.

“It is important that IADC’s accreditation division, as an accrediting body that holds training providers to course and quality standards, holds itself accountable for the quality of the services delivered to the industry,” said Brook Polk, Director – Program Development and Technology. “Obtaining the ISO recertification ties directly to ACD’s core mission of commitment to providing customer satisfaction with the highest quality products and services. It reinforces our drive for continued improvement and program integrity.”
