Andersson, Hannegan, Al-Hussain receive IADC Exemplary Service Awards

Houston, 7 November, 2012 – The International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) awarded the 2012 recipients of the Exemplary Service Awards today at its Annual General Meeting in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The Awards recognize individuals for their outstanding contributions to IADC and the drilling industry and their commitment to improving and advancing its safety, training and technology.

The awardees are:

Goran Andersson, Drilling and Completions Manager, Chevron

Mr .Anderssonn  has been involved in the drilling industry for more than 30 years in various positions at Chevron, Statoil, Shell and Maurer Engineering. Prior to his current position at Chevron, he led their Drilling and Completions Training Center in Houston. There, he initiated the development of a competency assurance program using advanced simulator equipment to allow D&C professionals to demonstrate competency, regardless of location.  At IADC, he has held the position of vice chair of the Well Control Committee, as well as chair of the WellCAP Curriculum Subcommittee, where he led the revision of the program and implementation of measures to strengthen it.

Don Hannegan, Strategic Technology Development Manager, MPD, Weatherford International

Recognized as a prolific inventor of enabling equipment and methods that reduce the risks of loss of well control when drilling challenging wells, Mr. Hannegan was recognized by the Society of Professional Engineers (SPE) with the World Oil 2004 Innovative Thinker Award for his role in conceiving and developing managed pressure drilling technology. He is currently lead author on a book, “Drilling Hazard Mitigation Tools and Technology,” to be published by the University of Texas Petroleum Extension Service (PETEX). He is a charter member of the IADC Underbalanced Operations and Managed Pressure Drilling Committee.

Zuhair Al-Hussain, Executive Director, Drilling and Workover, Saudi Aramco

Mr. Al-Hussain has been with Saudi Aramco for more than 30 years, with a focus on oil production and drilling. In his current role, he oversees engineering and operational activities covering exploratory development delineation and injection gas, oil and water wells drilled both on- and offshore. He holds a director position with the Society of Petroleum Engineers Saudi Arabia section. In 2009 Mr. Al-Hussain was recognized by the group for his distinguished contribution to petroleum engineering in the area of drilling and completions in the Middle East region. An active IADC member, he was a founder and former chair of the Northern Arabian Gulf Chapter.
