The IADC Advanced Rig Technology Committee has organized a special event for its 3 May meeting, which will be held at the 2018 Offshore Technology Conference.

Please register early. Space is limited.

Theme: “Data Visualization, Security, and Interconnectivity: A Paradigm Shift for Drilling”

Event vision: This meeting of the IADC ART Committee, conveniently located at the 2018 Offshore Technology Conference, is envisioned as a discussion of key trends that are driving a paradigm shift for the drilling industry. Topic leaders (listed below in the agenda) will present their ideas in this new data-driven world, the challenges they are designed to address, and how these concepts are being received by the industry. The audience will join in for discussion on each topic. The take away will be a new and deeper understanding of the trends that can help make our industry more efficient and effective – and the threats we must work to overcome.

Agenda

Welcome and introductions – Robin Macmillan, NOV, Chairman

Facility information & IADC antitrust policy – Mike Killalea, IADC

ART Topical areas:

Topical Area One: “Automation in Drilling: Automated Mud Logging and Beyond”: Dave Tonner, Diversified Well Logging LLC

Topical Area Two: “Augmented Reality (AR): A Paradigm Shift for Training & Field Support”: Claudio Pineda, e-cubed

Augmented Reality (AR) can bring expertise in real time where it is really needed, both for training and for field support.

Topical Area Three: “Blockchain Smart Contracts Are Creating the Commercial Internet”: Andrew Bruce, DataGumbo

Blockchain will revolutionize commerce, creating a “commercial internet” and catalyzing industrial automation.

Topical Area Four: “Cybersecurity: Threats and Solutions”: Siv Hilde Houmb, Secure-NOK, Chair, IADC Cybersecurity Committee

Cybersecurity is an essential component of enabling safe and efficient interconnectivity across systems on a Drilling Asset (IT/OT) and for the advancement of data visualization. As isolation is no longer an option, building cyber resilience into drilling systems becomes critical, especially as the cyber-attacks mature from relatively harmless and non-targeted virus to sophisticated and sometimes even targeted attacks. What is the real threat and how do we move towards having built-in cyber resilience?

  1. Wrap-up – Trenton Martin, Transocean, IADC ART Committee Vice Chair
