Abstracts invited for 25 September IADC DEC Tech Forum on drilling data

Data has historically been an essential part of how drilling contractors, service companies and operators collectively make decisions in well construction. In the IADC Drilling Engineers Committee (DEC) Q3 Technology Forum, we will explore what is trending in data acquisition, how it is being used differently and how the promise of big data is making an impact on the way decisions are being made in today’s rig operations. Focus areas for this event will be challenges around big data, such as capturing data, data storage, data analysis, search, sharing, transfer, querying, updating, veracity (i.e., how much noise is in the data), etc. Abstracts are sought that present ideas and alternatives on resolving data quality, data sharing and data storage for rapid decision making.

Presentations related to the topics below are of particular interest:

  • Big data, including safety, accuracy, competency, efficiency and predictive trends;

  • Data-driven efficiencies;

  • Data-driven competency;

  • Decisions driven by data; and

  • Predictive data.

The IADC DEC Q3 2019 Technology Forum will be held the morning of Wednesday, 25 September, with the theme “Drilling Data – What Is Available? How Good Is It? What Can We Do with It?” Event will be held at Weatherford, 11909 FM 529 (Spencer Road), Houston, TX 77041.  If you plan to attend, please click here to register.

The deadline for abstracts is Monday, 12 August.
