IADC Praises Senate Confirmation of Rick Perry as Secretary of Energy
Houston (2 March 2017) – Today, the U.S. Senate confirmed Rick Perry as Secretary of the Department of Energy (DOE). In response, IADC President Jason McFarland issued the following statement:
“While DOE’s jurisdiction does not involve managing development of our Federal lands, DOE research and technology prowess is unmatched. With the plentiful natural resources that the U.S. possesses, IADC and its members hope that the Department will continue to focus on how we can use all of our energy resources to benefit the U.S. and the world.
“Secretary Perry has a successful history of supporting oil and gas development, while also encouraging the development of renewable energy sources, and he is therefore well suited in his new role at the DOE. IADC specifically hopes to work with Secretary Perry to ensure a more timely review of LNG export permits and on revitalizing the Fossil Office within the Department. IADC is also on standby to serve as an educative resource for DOE employees who wish to understand more about drilling rigs, how they operate, and the complexities ofour business. Our members look forward to working with DOE, under the leadership of Secretary Perry on issues that impact the oil and gas industry in the U.S.”
