IADC Hosts “Onshore Drilling 101” Educational Event on Capitol Hill

Houston (28 February 201) – The International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) is hosting an “IADC Onshore Drilling 101” Lunch and Learn event at noon today at 406 Dirksen/EPW Committee Hearing Room. Onshore IADC members will present information about the role of the drilling contractor in the well construction process and will present industry safety data and feature a discussion on environmental stewardship.

“Drilling contractors are mainly small businesses who serve a vital role in the upstream oil and gas industry. As such, they have a unique story to tell, and being given an opportunity to educate the individuals who are charged with creating our nation’s energy laws and regulatory policy, is something they are proud to do. IADC members believe that being given this opportunity to provide information on how the industry functions and operates can only aid in the development of more knowledgeable and efficient regulation and legislation,” said Elizabeth Craddock, IADC Vice President, Policy, Government and Regulatory Affairs. “During their time in D.C., the IADC members in attendance, who represent four onshore drilling contractor companies, will also meet with several Senators and Members of Congress to discuss the current state of the industry and its commitment to safety.”

IADC onshore members participating in today’s event include:

Mike Garvin, Senior Vice President, Operations Support, Patterson-UTI Drilling Company

Joey Husband, Vice President Global Operations, Nabors Drilling Solutions

Scott McKee, Contracts and Marketing Lead, Cactus Drilling Company.

Mike Bowie, North America Region Leader, Subsea & Drilling, GE Oil & Gas
